Unicredit To Be Principal Uefa Sponsor

After being a UEFA Champions League sponsor for over a decade,
MasterCard will end its relationship at the end of the season.

A principal sponsor of the league as well as connections with the European Championships and the FIFA World Cup, MasterCard is being replaced by UniCredit Group.

UEFA received bids from both banking and financial institutions for the Champions League sponsorship from April to May of last year.

The partnership between the league and UniCredit, the third largest European bank, was made official today.

The Italian bank joins Sony, Sony Playstation, Heineken, Ford and Vodafone as principal sponsor of UEFA’s Champions League starting for the 2009/10 season.
