The Scottish FA has announced a four-year extension with Vauxhall Motors, which will see the number one selling car brand in the country continue as a lead partner to the Scotland national teams until 2018.
The partnership, originally established in January 2011, will now include the FIFA World Cups in Brazil and Russia, although Scotland failed to qualify for next year’s competition in South America.
Vauxhall’s chairman and managing director, Duncan Aldred, said of the deal: ‘This affiliation has delivered tremendous levels of brand awareness and has helped further cement our position as the number one selling car brand in Scotland.’
‘We hope our renewed commitment will play a key role in developing the national sport over the next five years and provide the driving force behind the further progression of football in Scotland.’
Stewart Regan, the Scottish FA chief executive, also highlighted the benefits of Vauxhall’s sponsorship for Scotland’s women’s, youth and disability teams, as well as the men’s squad.
Regan continued: ‘I look forward to sustaining a prosperous partnership that will inspire Gordon Strachan’s side into their Euro 2016 campaign, and Anna Signeul’s side as they begin qualification for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 and look towards UEFA Women’s Euro 2017.’
‘It has been the perfect partnership and the fact that the renewal was agreed well in advance of the current agreement expiring shows the Scotland sponsorship is really delivering for Vauxhall, and we have no doubt it will continue to do so.’
Scotland will soon turn their attentions to Wembley and the friendly with England as part of The FA’s 150th Anniversary celebrations on Wednesday 14th August.
To coincide with the game, Vauxhall – a partner of both countries – is giving fans the opportunity to win a brand new Vauxhall ADAM.
Fans are encouraged to send in their pictures of support for Scotland and England to Vauxhall’s dedicated football website with the best pictures being selected to form a Saltire and St George’s cross on the brand new ADAMs.
The Scotland and England Vauxhall ADAMs have been designed by the stars of the respective national teams in a series of football videos, which include Scotland’s Robert Snodgrass and Barry Bannan, and England’s Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Daniel Sturridge, Sophie Bradley and Jill Scott.
