After months of speculation, Vauxhall is set to be confirmed as the new sponsor of the England football team at a press conference next week.
The car manufacturer has reportedly agreed a deal to replace Nationwide, which ended its deal after an 11-year association with the England team.
Nationwide reportedly offered the Football Association a £20m offer to extend its deal in 2009 – but the approach was turned down.
The news will come as a big boost to the FA which has been searching for a new sponsor since England’s dismal World Cup campaign.
Former Manchester City chairman David Bernstein has recently been nominated to take over as the new chairman of the Football Association.
Bernstein, 67, spent nine years on the board at City, five as chairman, and beat hot favourite David Dein to the post which has been vacant since the resignation of Lord Triesman in May of this year.
England’s next match is a friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen on 8th February before traveling to Wales to resume the European Championships qualifying campaign on 26th March.
