viagogo has unveiled a new partnership with Scottish Rugby, who will sponsor November’s international matches at Murrayfield, which will now be branded the viagogo Autumn Tests.
The matches will be played against Japan on 9th November, South Africa visit on 17th November and Australia conclude the Series on 23rd November.
In a three-year deal, the ticket marketplace becomes the official secondary ticketing partner of Scottish Rugby and will provide fans with a new platform on which to buy and sell tickets safely for the viagogo Autumn Tests and all of Scotland’s home matches.
Oliver Wheeler, global head of communications at viagogo, said: ‘We’re very proud to be working with Scottish Rugby. This partnership marks a number of milestones for our business, as it’s our first with a sport’s governing body, our first in Scotland and our first with branding rights. It is also the first of what we hope will be many partnerships with sport governing bodies.’
‘Scottish Rugby is a forward-thinking organisation that shares our mission to provide access, security and choice to fans in Scotland, the UK and all over the world. We look forward to working together over the next three years.’
Scottish Rugby’s chief executive, Mark Dodson, added: ‘This ground-breaking deal is good news for Scottish Rugby financially and good news for our supporters both at home and overseas.’
‘In the past, if you bought a ticket and were unable to attend the game, you weren’t allowed to resell that ticket. This deal gives us a significant extra outlet for tickets, extends our international reach in some of our biggest ex-pat markets and gives supporters who can no longer come to a game the opportunity to recoup their outlay within our revised ticket sale terms and conditions.’
Scottish Rugby joins a portfolio of nearly a hundred names in sport and entertainment that already work with viagogo across the world. In sport, these include European football clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the French Open and the ATP World Tour Finals.
