Barclays Premier League side Aston Villa have confirmed a new partnership with online video company Base79, with the aim of optimising the club’s official YouTube channel and maximise revenues from online content.

The London-headquartered firm, which also has offices in Paris, Madrid, Berlin, LA and Sydney, will also support the club’s programming strategy to develop a range of new videos.

The firm’s roster of partners already includes the Football Association, IMG Worldwide, the French Football Federation, Premiership Rugby and the Women’s Tennis Association.

Russell Jones, the head of marketing at Aston Villa, said: ‘I’m delighted that Aston Villa will be the first UK football club to partner with Base79. As a leader in online video content, Base79 will play an important role in helping us grow our YouTube audience. Our aim is to deliver great video content to our millions of fans worldwide and I’m confident this partnership will complement our already very successful AVTV and international TV products very well.’

Ashley MacKenzie, the founder and chief executive of Base79, added: ‘Aston Villa, like other Premier League football clubs, has a massive, passionate and loyal audience from around the world. YouTube, as the most dominant online video platform, is an essential tool for clubs and organising bodies in football to connect with and serve their audience online; giving the fans content they’ll enjoy and want to share via the YouTube platform.’
