Double gold medalist Usain Bolt has been approached by Virgin Media to be the face of the brand’s latest advertising campaign.
The UK cable company has confirmed that it has made an offer to Bolt to endorse Virgin Media’s new ‘superfast’ broadband service.
Virgin Media, which is set to launch a 50Mb broadband product it claims will be more than twice as fast as rivals, is considering calling the product ‘Boltband’.
The 22-year old Bolt broke the world record in both the 100m and 200m on his way to winning gold medals in both events and his feats have arguably been the story of the Beijing Olympics.
Virgin Media has previous actress Uma Thurman to front its £20m campaign to rebrand Ntl: telewest as Virgin Media and has also used Samuel L Jackson and Ruby Wax in ad campaigns.
The move is the first of what is sure to be a host of commercial deals for Bolt following his arrival as a global superstar.
