The national tourism agency VisitBritain is delving into football ahead of the World Cup by using Premier League players to talk about their favourite places in Britain as part of an online initiative.
VisitBritain has interviewed Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland about how much they enjoy playing in the United Kingdom and where they like to visit away from the game.
The initiative has been set up between VisitBritain and the Premier League to boost the level of international interest in English football to encourage visitors to Britain.
The site will also promote attractions and activities around the stadiums of the 20 Premier League clubs.
VisitBritain’s research has found that 40% of visitors want to watch a football game and that 1 in 6 visitors to the UK like to watch live sport.
The interviews also offer advice to foreign fans on how they can get tickets and hospitality deals through travel partners.
The interviews will be hosted on a dedicated microsite at http://www.visitbritain.com/football.
