Volkswagen has agreed a deal to become the official partner of the lucrative Indian Premier League.
The deal will run for the next two editions of the competition and sees the German car manufacturers become the first high profile European company to link with the tournament.
The Indian Premier League player auction for the fourth season will be held on January 8th – 9th in Mumbai – six days after the ICC World Cup.
New player auction rules have been introduced and franchises can now retain four players from their teams but will have to pay $1.8m for the first player, $1.3m for the second, $900,000 for the third, and $500,000 for the fourth.
The fourth edition of the IPL will run from 8th April to 22nd May this year and will include two new teams.
