The World Anti-Doping agency has praised the doping testing at this year’s Tour de France but is adamant that cycling’s governing must be more aggressive in future tests.

WADA had sent observers to monitor the testing by the International Cycling Union at the Tour de France – which Alberto Contador won for the third time.

However, Contador has been provisionally suspended by the UCI after testing positive for the banned drug clenbuterol.

WADA has now praised the UCI but insists that tests were too friendly with some riders, and even proposing that more riders should be taken out of their comfort zone and tested late at night.

WADA also says the UCI should centralise managing the results instead of delegating them to national federations.
