Walking With The Wounded, a charity set up to support wounded ex-servicemen and women back into work, has appointed sport and entertainment agency Generate to help grow its ‘Walking Home For Christmas’ campaign.

Established in 2010, Walking With The Wounded funds the re-training of wounded ex-servicemen and women and in doing so assists them in acquiring the skills and qualifications necessary to find new sustainable careers and independence outside the military.

The Walking Home For Christmas campaign will specifically raise funds for the charity’s Home Straight programme which specifically assists wounded, injured and sick veterans who have become homeless. The charity provides employment mentors to homeless residences to assist and enable veterans to move back into long term employment and independence, within a supported environment.

Andrew Cook, head of fundraising at Walking With The Wounded, said: “For the second year running, Walking With The Wounded is asking the UK public to put on their walking boots and Walk Home For Christmas. Participants can walk any distance and from any location, the most important thing is the taking part and having fun to raise crucial funds to support homeless veterans this Christmas who don’t have a home to walk to.”

Generate will be working alongside the charity to expand its commercial partners and ensure maximum publicity and awareness of the campaign.

Andy Muggleton, managing partner of Generate added: “We are delighted to be working with Walking With The Wounded once again and support them in growing this exciting fundraising campaign. We will be continuing to support Walking Home For Christmas through a targeted campaign using our existing network of contacts and expertise and are looking forward to delivering a successful campaign.”
