Warrior has officially announced its first away football strip, after unveiling Liverpool Football Club’s new 2012/13 shirt – which, according to the kit manufacturer, pays tribute to the city’s maritime roots.

Following the launch of the inaugural Warrior Liverpool home kit earlier this month, the away strip is also built around the theme of ‘modern tradition’.

Head of Warrior Football Richard Wright said: ‘The away kit draws strong parallels from the uniforms worn by the Liverpool dockyard workers who plied their trade at the Mersey Docks – the world’s most influential ship building at the turn of the 20th century.’

Specifically inspired by the kit worn between 1900 and 1906, the away shirt features a prominent yoke detail set over a distinct colour palette of black and raven grey.

As with the new home kit, the away version has been designed using Warrior’s apparel system, War-Tech. Within War-Tech, according to the official statement, lies Scafé – an innovative, antimicrobial fabric made with coffee grounds that is fast drying, assists with odor control, provides UV protection, and is environmentally friendly.

Warrior will also unveil its European kit in July.
