Wasps have appointed Adam Benson as their new Chief Commercial Officer.
Benson joins the Ricoh Arena club from fellow Premiership Rugby outfit Gloucester and will begin his new position with Wasps in February.
There Benson will oversee commercial strategy and direct work in partnerships and advertising, hospitality, retail, ticketing, CRM, digital, community and Wasps Netball, as well as identifying new opportunities across the business.
Stephen Vaughan, Chief Executive (Sports), Wasps said: “Adam will be a key member of the executive team and will primarily be focused on defining and implementing our commercial strategy.
“I worked with Adam at Gloucester and he’s a talented guy with great expertise and experience within the sports industry, and I have no doubt he will help us to achieve our commercial goals to ensure the Club is in a great place going forward.”
Having previously spent six years as Commercial Director at Reading Football Club, Benson oversaw the development and implementation of commercial and business development strategy for the club, as well as the management of ticketing, retail, hospitality, partnerships and marketing.
Benson added: “Wasps is a huge club with a rich history and it’s an opportunity I am really relishing.
“I enjoyed working with Stephen before and he’s explained to me that there are some great people within the business who have a real passion for the Club, while he’s also told me about the fantastic group of sponsors and partners so I look forward to meeting them all.
“I know that being a successful commercial business in sport is a challenge but I want to help drive it in the right direction. I can’t wait to get involved and play my part in the exciting journey ahead.”
