Wasps have launched their new website ahead of the first home game against Aviva Premiership champions, Northampton Saints, this weekend – www.wasps.co.uk – featuring a live match day centre and a new video service, Wasps TV.

Sports digital agency Aqueduct, whose clients include Manchester City FC and BT Sport, have designed and built the new Wasps website.

In action on Sunday will be Wasps’ new match day centre, LivePlayer, offering fans minute-by-minute updates, commentary and interaction from the Wasps social media platforms.

The live match day centre is powered by Aqueduct’s own product Liveplayer, and sports data providers Opta.

As part of the new launch, Wasps TV video content will also be available on Dailymotion, the world’s second biggest video platform, giving exposure to its global audience of 120 million.

Aqueduct, who also built the platform for the BT Sport Industry Awards’ Live Blog – www.btsialive.biz – and fan engagement specialists Two Circles, who won the coveted Agency of the Year title in 2014 at the event, consulted with fans throughout design and development of the new website with interviews, surveys and tests online and in person.

Jeremy Wilton, chief operating officer at Wasps, said: ‘Our new website will deliver a fresh experience for our fans with Wasps TV, a new live match experience and regularly updated content throughout. We have done a lot of work in recent months to get to grips with the content fans want and everything about the new website reflects that.’

Rob Oubridge, founder at Aqueduct, added: ‘It’s a great new step for us to take our knowledge with football clubs into the rugby arena, and launch first with Wasps. We hope the live match day experience brought through Liveplayer will entertain and engage Wasps fans, wherever they are in the world as they can access this on the website, tablets and mobiles. So even if they can’t be at every game, they can feel like they are there through the live content updates.’
