Twickenham Stadium will play host to The Stinger (previously the St George’s Day Game) – on 19th April with an expected crowd of 60,000 after a two year break.

The event attracted a crowd of 60,000 in its debut season, with 38,000 the following year and is now returning with an increased focus on revenue generation rather than just attendance.

London Wasps will face Gloucester Rugby in the game and this year the match will come under a new banner with new imagery to mark the occasion in the form of “The Stinger”.

As part of the new strategy, London Wasps aim to deliver an aggressive creative campaign that will not only excite current fans but also attract a new audience.

Jeremy Wilton, COO at London Wasps, said of the game: ‘The Stinger is an important Aviva Premiership match and event for the Club. The occasion is about delivering a great day out that caters for the cross section of fans that will be attending.’

‘It’s also important for the Club to deliver a successful day on three measures, data capture, staging an event that supports the stature of the Club and revenue generation.’

As well as the rugby, The Stinger will also have a full day of entertainment planned. £1 from every ticket sold to The Stinger will go to Sport Relief, with tickets starting from £10.

There will also be a chance to get closer to the squad than ever before in a competition before the game. The winner of our 16th man competition will win the opportunity to sit on the bench with the London Wasps substitutes during the game.

Tickets for the game on 19th April 2014 are still available. To book your group tickets please contact London Wasps on 0208 993 8298. For all corporate sales enquiries please contact Alex Dziekonska on 0208 896 4874 or alexandra@wasps.co.uk
