Wasserman Media Group has announced the restructuring of its global football division, with a new leadership structure put in place from within the organisation.

The agency announced in September that Rush would be leaving to take on the role of president and CEO at Derby County, noting at the time that it would restructure the division rather than recruit externally.

Global COO Mike Watts will be spending more time in London with the group and will work closely with senior agents Paul Martin, Struan Marshall, Neil Fewings and Richard Motzkin to lead the football management business. Fahri Ecvet has been elevated to handle the day-to-day operations of the group, having previously served as the group’s general legal counsel.

‘Sam helped build the football business to the undisputed leader in the industry over the last six years and we wish him all the best at Derby County,’ said a statement from Casey Wasserman.

‘Our football business is once again having a record year and has never been stronger. We are confident that in this new structure, we will continue to dominate while exceeding the expectations of our incredible clients and partners.’
