EFL Championship football club Watford FC has announced a new long-term partnership with MrQ.

The deal will see the gambling company’s logo displayed on the front of the club’s shirt, as part of a multi-year agreement that has been described as ‘record-breaking’ for the club.

Independently-owned and operating from St. Albans since its 2018 inception, MrQ.com also becomes the club’s principal partner for the forthcoming 2023/24 season.

The multi-year agreement represents a record-breaking deal for an EFL club.

Savvas Fellas, Founder of MrQ, said, “It’s a great new chapter for the club and for us. We’re excited for next season. Our business was built in St. Albans and the people who have shaped it are Hertfordshire born and bred and so we’re excited about expanding on that local story.”

“We’re looking to raise our profile but this deal represents a lot more than just a sponsorship; it’s a partnership, and we’re keen to play our part in the local community.”

“We have a responsibility to make sure that we don’t just adhere to regulations but that we go above and beyond the call of duty. This is where the technology and data come into everything we do. We have built our business and reputation entirely on openness, honesty and care.”

Paul O’Brien, Commercial Director at Watford FC, added, “The MrQ agreement is a very strong financial deal for the club and it also has longevity.

“MrQ has impressive roots in the local area and shares great synergy with our club values. As a Hertfordshire-based business, they are looking to impact really positively in the community.”

The deal has been agreed despite imminent new rules on gambling sponsors appearing on football shirts in the Premier League. However, this will not be introduced until 2025.
