Weetabix has struck new deals with the football associations of four Home Nations, becoming an Official Partner of the Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland football teams.
As part of the long-term deals, Weetabix will become the Official Cereal of the men’s and women’s teams of each of the nations, and will also give fans the chance to win money-can’t-buy experiences, as well as watching their heroes train and winning signed shirts or international match tickets in on-pack promotions.
The partnership with the Wales Women’s National Team, meanwhile, will also see Weetabix become the title partner of the FAW Trust grassroots girls’ participation initiative Huddle, which will be renamed Huddle, powered by Weetabix.
The programme aims to introduce girls aged between four and 11 to football in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment ensuring they have a positive first experience of football. The programme is delivered by clubs and partners across Wales who are committed to introducing football to girls in their communities.
“We are already known as the UK’s favourite cereal and working with The Football Association of Wales and FAW Trust will only cement this further,” said Gareth Turner, Head of Brand at Weetabix.
“This partnership reinforces our belief that everyone can achieve their best with a proper, Weetabix start to the day, and we’re delighted that we can bring the Weetabix advantage to the next generation of talent through our work with Huddle, powered by Weetabix and the Welsh Women’s teams.”
Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive, said of the partnership with the Scottish FA: “Through our partnership with Weetabix we will be able to actively encourage the nation to eat healthily and help football fans of all ages across Scotland start the day right.
“The growth of the women’s game has been heartening to see, particularly with our national team qualifying for back-to-back major tournaments, in 2017 and 2019.
“Having an association with a brand such as Weetabix will only help continue to grow the women’s game in Scotland and create female role models for youngsters across the country.”
Stephen Bogle, Head of Sales and Marketing at the Irish FA, added: “We’re thrilled to announce Weetabix as the Official Breakfast Partner of the Northern Ireland National Teams. Weetabix will support our efforts to encourage the nation to choose healthy options at breakfast, helping football fans of all ages across Northern Ireland to start the day right.”
