Wembley will gain a further game at the rescheduled UEFA EURO 2020 after a decision by European football’s governing body to move games from two cities which could not guarantee fans in attendance this summer.

Matches in Munich will go ahead with a confirmed minimum of 14,500 spectators, however matches slated to take place in Bilbao and Dublin will now be moved.

With local authorities unable to commit to fan attendance in both cities, matches will be moved, with Seville taking games scheduled for Bilbao’s, which includes three in Group E and one in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, those scheduled for Dublin include three Group E matches and a Round of 16 game, with the group games now moved to the St Petersburg venue which is scheduled to host group games and a quarter final, The knockout stage tie, meanwhile, is set for Wembley – which will also host the semi-finals and final of the competition.

“We have been working diligently with the host associations and local authorities to ensure a safe and festive environment at the games and I am really pleased that we are able to welcome spectators at all matches for a celebration of national team football across the continent,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.

“UEFA wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude to the cities of Bilbao and Dublin – both of which are considered as good venues to host future UEFA events – the national and regional governments of Spain and the Republic of Ireland, and all local stakeholders for their dedication, professionalism and efforts over the past years.

“UEFA would also like to thank the Football Association of Ireland and its dedicated staff for their excellent collaboration and hard work, and is looking forward to continuing to work with the remaining eleven host associations in delivering UEFA EURO 2020 matches.”

Meanwhile, UEFA has confirmed that all tickets for the affected matches in Bilbao and Dublin will be cancelled, with purchasers receiving a full refund for the face value of those tickets.
