Wembley Stadium is set for an overhaul of its sponsorship, commercial and content activities through a new partnership between the Football Association and Oak View Group (OVG).
The global venue development, advisory and investment company for the sports and live entertainment industries has been hired to expand and diversify the national stadium’s sponsorship, content and other opportunities. According to a statement, OVG will work in partnership with Wembley’s existing team.
At the same time as this deal, OVG has also announced a partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the UK. Jacksonville is the only NFL team to have Wembley Stadium as its ‘home away from home’ and last year announced it would be playing a London game of the season as a bona fide home fixture. OVG said it will be working with the Jaguars to develop UK-based commercial opportunities.
Tim Leiweke, Chief Executive Officer at OVG, said, “Wembley Stadium is a global icon, known the world over for hosting some of the most historic moments in sport and live music and we are incredibly proud of its addition to the OVG family.
“As venue owners and operators, OVG knows the importance of maximising sponsorship opportunities and deliver a year-round calendar of brilliant events. We look forward to what we know will be an innovative and productive partnership working with the topflight team at Wembley Stadium and the FA.”
OVG already works with a group of major venues in the UK including the Royal Albert Hall, Ascot Racecourse and Silverstone.
Mark Burrows, FA Chief Operating Officer, said, “We’re delighted to partner with Oak View Group, which will open up new and exciting sponsorship and content opportunities for Wembley Stadium.
“We’re very proud to welcome millions of people to our stadium each year for iconic sporting and music events, and this partnership will help us to build on that and ensure we continue to provide world-class experiences for those who visit.”
