Premier League side West Ham United will cut its season ticket prices following the league’s record TV deal with Sky and BT, ahead of the move to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the 2016/17 season.

Once the new television deal kicks in for 2016/17, the Hammers’ season tickets will become the cheapest in the Premier League, compared to current prices, with a new entry-level Band 5 adult season ticket costing £289.

All season tickets for under-16s will be cut to £99 – the equivalent of £5 per game – while a family of four can buy a season ticket for £776 – the equivalent of £41 per match.

The club are the first to use increased broadcast revenue from the Premier League’s £5.13 billion domestic rights deal with Sky and BT to lower ticket prices.

It is understood West Ham are hoping for 40,000 season-ticket holders in their 54,000-capacity stadium, which would also help to fill the stadium that is significantly larger than the side’s current home.

London’s Olympic Stadium will have 19,000 more seats than at West Ham’s current home, Upton Park, which holds 35,016, and the move will allow them to increase hospitality revenue at the top end and fund price cuts at the bottom.

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said: “We have always said that the move to our magnificent new stadium would be a game changer for West Ham.

“It was a chance to increase revenue, invest in the team and improve our performance on the pitch, but without putting an extra financial burden on the supporters who already come to watch every home match.

“This announcement proves we have kept our promise.”
