Online ticket exchange company Viagogo have extended their partnership with Barclays Premier League team West Ham United.
Viagogo will remain the London club’s official ticket exchange partner having sponsored the club since 2010. In August, the company announced partnerships with nine English Premier League clubs, five German Bundesliga clubs, two Dutch Eredivisie clubs, one Spanish La Liga club, and a number of Italian Serie A clubs.
The deal will allow season ticket holders to re-sell their tickets online for matches that they are not able to attend. During 2011/12, season ticket holders in England missed an average of four Premier League matches each, resulting in around 1.8 million unused seats – approximately 20% of the 8.75 million Premier League seats available.
Viagogo spokesman Edward Parkinson said: ‘The Hammers are well known for their passionate support so we are delighted to be offering fans greater access to seats and season ticket holders a legal solution for reselling match day tickets they are unable to use.’
West Ham United commercial director, Barry Webber, said: ‘Our loyal fan base deserves a place to sell tickets they can no longer use to other West Ham supporters. Our new partnership with Viagogo, the world’s largest ticket exchange, is great news for both supporters who are occasionally unable to use their season cards and fans struggling to get a ticket to must-see games.’
