West Ham United has revealed its new team strip for the 2013/14 season, with the adidas kit also highlighting the club’s new shirt sponsor, global forex broker, Alpari.
According to the club, the kit mirrors the strip worn in 1985, when the club finished third – its highest final league position.
The new team strip marks the start of Alpari’s three-year multi-million pound principal sponsor agreement with the club. The deal extends Alpari’s involvement with the club from a stadium brand and naming rights partner to main shirt sponsor.
The agreement between the east London club and Alpari will give West Ham the opportunity to promote itself to the brand’s growing markets across more than 20 countries.
The club’s first photos of the kit also feature striker Andy Carroll (pictured above, with club captain Kevin Nolan and Winston Reid), who confirmed a £15 million permanent move to the club this week – in time for the launch – following a successful loan spell from Liverpool last season.
As the Barclays Premier League has broadcast distribution reaching more than 700 million households, it also gives the Alpari companies a platform to increase exposure in its key regions for expansion, including China, Central and South America.
Karren Brady, vice chairman, West Ham United, said: ‘The launch of our new adidas home replica kit comes at an extremely exciting time for West Ham United. I believe the new kit marks the start of an exciting new era at the club as we continue our preparations to move to the iconic Olympic Stadium in 2016.’
‘We are delighted to be wearing adidas once again and we will be proud to bear the logo of our new principal sponsor, Alpari FX trading, which adds a stylish touch to the new shirt. With the announcement of a club-record deal to sign Andy Carroll and more transfers in the pipeline, I’m sure West Ham fans all over the world are eagerly looking forward to the start of the 2013/14 season.’
Speaking about the launch of the new shirt, David Hodge, CMO at Alpari, said: ‘Alpari and West Ham United are two brands both proudly rooted in the City of London but with a shared global ambition. Including the Alpari name on such an iconic football strip will help introduce forex trading to a growing international audience.’
The Alpari-branded kit will be first worn by the team during the pre-season tour to Ireland and Germany, and available for pre-order now at www.whufc.com, hitting the shops from 4th July.
