West Ham United have beaten the bid of Tottenham Hotspur for selection as the preferred club to move to the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games.
The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) executives made the unanimous decision, which must now be ratified by the OPLC board, two government departments and the mayor of London.
Tottenham’s bid would have involved knocking the stadium down and building a new one, while West Ham will keep the stadium, and its running track.
Baroness Ford, head of the OPLC, said: It is cracking for the communities of east London and a really good outcome for sport.
