Scrumys, a youth sports organisation that utilises core elements of rugby to help introduce sport to children from ages 18 months to 11-years-old, has appointed Will Greenwood to the team.
Will joins Scrumys with the aim of expanding the company to a national franchise model, across the UK.
In a professional career that spanned 11 years and 55 international caps, Will is England’s second highest try scorer of all time and was part of England’s victorious World Cup campaign of 2003. Since retirement Will has forged a successful career in media, being a sports analyst and commentator.
Scrumys, founded by David Maskell in 2011, provides a fun environment to introduce younger children to the game and give them a clear pathway to Minis at their local Rugby Club and beyond into the senior game.
Supported by established clubs and brands such as Canterbury and Windsor Rugby Clubs, as well as HSBC, Scrumys has more than 1,000 children enrolled a week in schools, nurseries and weekend sessions.
Scrumys founder David Maskell said: “I am thrilled to have Will as part of the Scrumys team. His passion for grass roots coaching and the sport will enable us to elevate Scrumys across the country to instill our core values of respect, discipline and fun with young children at a national level.”
Will Greenwood said: “I grew up on rugby pitches and had a ball in my hand from the age of two, rugby then became my passport to the world. I am hoping by introducing the wonderful sport of rugby to so many more children through Scrumys we can help create a fun and safe environment for kids to get as much enjoyment from their sport as I did.”
