The All England Lawn Tennis Club has unveiled new artificial intelligence powered features for this 2025.
The features include an interactive assistant called ‘Match Chat’ and an upgraded ‘Likelihood to Win’ tool.
‘Match Chat’ is a generative AI (Gen AI) powered assistant set to debut on the Wimbledon app and website for the 2025 tournament. It has been designed to answer fan questions about live singles matches in real time. The assistant will provide immediate responses to pre-written prompts or specific questions about a match, such as player statistics or performance insights, using AI.
The new feature will initially only be available for men’s and women’s singles matches.
IBM has also updated the ‘Likelihood to Win’ tool. This feature uses AI analysis of player statistics, expert opinion, and match momentum to provide fans with a projected win percentage that updates throughout a match.
Looking ahead, Wimbledon aims to create more personalised digital experiences. Both the AELTC and IBM have emphasised the importance of human input alongside AI processes for future developments.
Chris Clements, Digital Products Lead, AELTC, said, “We think this is going to be a really engaging experience that caters to a number of different fans and a number of different kind of personas.”
Additionally to this, Wimbledon has announced that Range Rover will return to the tournament as it’s official vehicle partner for the second year.
