The 2015 Wimbledon singles champions will win £1.88m, an increase of £120,000 on last year, after The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) revealed a number of new details, including broadcast agreements and sponsorship renewals, ahead of this year’s Championships at Wimbledon.
The overall prize fund at the All England Club will rise from £25m to £26.75m, a 7% increase year on year. The men’s and women’s champion will now earn £1.88m from the competition.
Courts 14 and 15 will come back into use after being re-laid following development works, boosting the total ground capacity at SW19 by 500 to 39,000.
The use of Hawk-Eye has also been extended to courts 12 and 18, meaning the technology will be in action on six courts across the championships, which run from 29th June to 12th July.
There will also be a slightly later start, meaning a three-week gap between Roland Garros and Wimbledon will give players more of a chance to get their feet moving on the new surface.
Meanwhile, following Jaguar’s arrival as Wimbledon’s official car earlier this month, the club has announced renewals with a trio of other partners: official ball Slazenger, official outfitter Ralph Lauren and official information technology partner IBM.
Broadcast-wise, new agreements have been reached with Channel 7 and Fox Sports in Australia, and Globosat and ESPN in Brazil.
Organisers added that the next stage of the Wimbledon Master Plan, which will see the development of court number one, is underway, with a detailed design process ongoing.
