The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have extended their Wimbledon broadcast rights agreement across 11 European territories.
Coverage of the iconic Grand Slam tennis tournament will remain on Eurosport in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden.
The latest extension will also see the Wimbledon singles finals air on Eurosport in the UK, with the channel also set to feature daily highlights from the Championships.
Across the 11 territories, Eurosport holds the rights to all four of tennis’ Grand Slams – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.
Meanwhile, WBD’s newly launched OTT service, Max, will provide live and on-demand coverage of all matches throughout the tournaments in select markets.
WBD will be delivering broadcasts from Wimbledon from the start of this year’s qualifying rounds on 24th June.
This summer, Eurosport and Max will also offer coverage from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
WBD first acquired Wimbledon rights for Belgium in 2015, before the media giant secured its first multi-market deal the following year.
“Our live tennis portfolio encompasses the biggest events in the sport and we have an established reputation for continuing to scale ground-breaking Grand Slam coverage to ever-increasing audiences across Europe,” said Trojan Paillot, SVP ofSports Rights Acquisitions and Syndications at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe.
“After already engaging record audiences for our exclusive Australian Open coverage this year, an incredible summer of tennis is now underway as we continue to connect fans with every player from every match at Roland-Garros, and with Wimbledon, the US Open and the Olympic Games still to come as part of a monumental year for the sport.”
