The All England Lawn Tennis Club and global digital sport and entertainment specialist Perform, have re-launched Wimbledon Live, Wimbledon’s official pay-per-view video broadband service, for the 2009 Championships.
The offering is integrated into the official Wimbledon website, wimbledon.org, and will stream live coverage from the top six courts throughout this year’s tournament. Tennis fans will be able to access all the latest live video coverage alongside full match action delayed, on a pay-per-view basis, by purchasing either a full tournament or day pass.
The service will be available across the globe but will be restricted in specific territories and, as part of the deal, Perform will also ingest and encode live feeds from four of the courts and distribute in WMV format to Wimbledon’s US television network partner – NBC.
Through the use of its established network of partners and affiliates, along with targeted CRM and social networking campaigns, Perform’s digital marketing team will also be responsible for driving both traffic and transactions for the new Wimbledon Live site.
In January, Perform streamed 6 simultaneous courts live for the Australian Open across its website and partner sites, whilst also launching TennisTV.com, a broadband TV partnership between the ATP World Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
