Linfield FC has backed the £30m redevelopment plan for Windsor Park which would create a 20,000 capacity stadium for Northern Ireland.
Linfield FC members voted by a large majority to support a draft agreement between the club the and Irish FA.
The running of the stadium would be taken over by a management company and Linfield, as owners of the site, would receive £200,000 in rent annually from the IFA and the club will not have to pay maintenance costs.
The Association will now meet with its partners – DCAL, Sport NI and Linfield FC to discuss the next step in the process.
It is expected that the much needed work on revamping the current 14,500-seat Windsor Park would take around 18 months.
Northern Ireland currently gives Linfield FC 15% of the revenue from internationals fixtures.
