TNT Sports has inked a multi-year broadcast rights partnership for the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), covering the UK and Ireland.
Taking effect from the upcoming 2024 campaign, the deal will see at least 16 regular season fixtures air on the UK pay-TV broadcaster’s linear channels, and on the Discovery+ subscription streaming service.
Select games from the WNBA Playoffs, Finals and All-Star Game are also included in the agreement.
Throughout the season, TNT Sports will provide WNBA programming and weekly highlights across its digital and social platforms.
In October, TNT Sports reclaimed the NBA’s UK rights from rival Sky Sports, when it signed a multi-year agreement that covers more than 250 live regular season games annually. Sky had previously provided NBA coverage in the UK since 2018.
Formerly known as BT Sport, the network rebranded as TNT Sports last July after the joint venture between the UK telecommunications firm and Warner Bros Discovery.
This year’s WNBA season tips off on 15th May, when the New York Liberty face the Washington Mystics.
Colie Edison, Chief Growth Officer of the WNBA, said,“We are thrilled to collaborate with TNT Sports to bring the excitement of the WNBA to fans in the UK and Ireland.
“There is incredible momentum around women’s basketball in the region, and now fans will be able to more easily follow their favourite WNBA teams and players throughout the season.”
