Australian wine brand Wolf Blass has renewed its sponsorship deal with the Rugby Football Union ahead of this year’s Six Nations tournament.
Wolf Blass will continue its sponsorship deal as the official wine of England Rugby and the official wine supplier to the RFU.
The sponsorship includes heavy-weight perimeter signage at Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Wolf Blass is also the recommended wine on all RFU wine lists, including various hospitality packages, executive boxes and at the bars around the stadiums.
In addition, match ticket holders will be able to sample and purchase the wines from a dedicated Wolf Blass bar situated at the entrance to Twickenham. Wines available will be the Wolf Blass Green Label Chardonnay and Cabernet Shiraz, packaged in PET, which is perfect for use in sports stadia and outdoor occasions where glass is seen as a potential hazard.
The Wolf Blass brand’s association with rugby will be further supported via a consumer promotion with Waitrose. Running online at Waitrosewine.com until 25th February, consumers can win tickets to the England v France game on 15th March at Twickenham.
The competition will be promoted through an email to 100,000 customers and a link with the RFU website and magazine.
The Wolf Blass brand will help licensees promote the rugby in outlet by giving select pubs and bars throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland the opportunity for customers to win tickets to Six Nations games. Consumers simply text ‘rugby’ to the number shown on promotional Wolf Blass posters.
In Cash & Carry, the Wolf Blass brand’s association with rugby will be clearly visible with tailor-made case stacker units featuring rugby imagery for Wolf Blass Red and Yellow Label. These will be in depot from February 2009.
