Defender has been confirmed as the Principal Partner of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, which will take place across England.
The partnership has continued Land Rover’s 25-year association with rugby and strengthened Defender’s involvement in the women’s game.
The World Cup will be held in eight cities across England and will open with England facing the USA at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
As part of the partnership, Defender has launched a Mascot Programme that will see 64 young players selected from rugby nations including England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and New Zealand. The initiative will involve both boys and girls and will offer the opportunity for participants to walk out alongside players during matches. In the UK, mascots will be recruited through Defender retailers.
The partnership with World Rugby has aligned with a broader strategy to support the growth of women’s rugby from grassroots through to the elite level, as the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 prepares to be the most widely attended and accessible edition of the tournament to date.
Alan Gilpin, World Rugby Chief Executive, “Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is set to be a transformational moment for the game and having a globally respected brand like Defender at the heart of it is a powerful statement.
“Their commitment to telling stories of strength, determination and empowerment reflects the very spirit of women’s rugby, and we’re excited to work together to create lasting impact both on and off the field.”
