England’s women’s rugby team, the Red Roses, secured their third World Cup title with a 33–13 win over Canada in the final held at Allianz Stadium Twickenham on 27 September 2025. The match was attended by 81,885 spectators, setting a new global record for a women’s rugby union match.
The final was also broadcast to a peak television audience of 5.8 million viewers in the UK, making it the most-watched rugby match of the year.
Following the victory, the Red Roses celebrated with fans at Battersea Power Station, highlighting the growing popularity and visibility of women’s sport in the UK.
The Rugby Football Union has set a target to increase women’s and girls’ participation in rugby to 100,000 players by 2027 and aims for the women’s game to become self-sustaining by 2031.
