Latest figures have revealed ASICS Europe grew by 23% in Q1 for 2013, becoming the fastest growing brand for women’s running footwear during the period with results on the continent particularly strong.
The first quarter of the year saw France and Germany grow by 63% and 13% respectively.
Earlier this year ASICS launched its global Better Your Best advertising campaign which showed a woman striving to achieve her running goals and, according to the brand, took a share of 22% in the growing women’s running market.
Away from women’s running, ASICS Europe delivered an overall net sales increase of 3% between January and March 2013, with ASICS Austria and Russia contributing with strong growth.
Meanwhile running apparel sales increasing by 35%, running footwear by 5%, and in tennis, another of the brand’s sports sectors, ASICS recorded double digit growth figures in both apparel and footwear.
Alistair Cameron, CEO of ASICS Europe B.V, said: ‘Despite trading conditions continuing to be challenging, ASICS Europe has maintained our growth from 2012 into the first quarter of 2013. Particularly pleasing is ASICS’ position as the fastest growing brand for women’s running, an indication of the positive effect of our female orientated global advertising campaign.’
‘ASICS’ brand monitoring has also shown the highest-ever brand awareness level – another indication of the positive effect of our media investment and marketing activities. We expect the second quarter of 2013 to yield even higher growth than the first quarter of the year.’
