The sport industry is counting down the hours to the start of the BT Sport Industry Awards 2019, which will get underway from 6.30pm this evening at Battersea Evolution in London.

As part of the overall celebrations, this year has seen the first staging of the spin-off Industry Choice Awards, designed as a lighthearted way to offer the industry a voice in recognising achievements that underpin its collective success.

Shortlists for three categories – Athlete / Team, Sports Moment and Industry Moment of the Year – were determined by representatives of the #BTSIA 2019 shortlisted organisations at the Sport Industry Shortlisted event in early March.

Sport Industry Group then put all three shortlists to a social media vote, with the results delivering a clean sweep of victories for women’s team sports.

In the Team or Athlete of the Year category, the Vitality Roses England netball squad triumphed, beating runner-up Laura Muir, who will join Roses’ captain Ama Agbeze at this evening’s BT Sport Industry Awards celebrations.

The Roses again scored a whitewash victory in the Sport Moment of the Year category, while Visa’s landmark partnership with UEFA Women’s Football was the runaway winner of the sport industry’s Industry Moment of the Year.

The results provide a fitting reflection of a watershed year for women’s team sports, which will be well represented at the BT Sport Industry Awards with its Principal Media Partner Telegraph Women’s Sport.

All of those casting their votes in the Industry Choice Awards were entered into a random prize draw for a ticket to this evening’s industry night of the year.

The lucky winner was named as Georgie Lack from Catapult Sports, itself among the shortlist for the Cutting Edge Sport Award. She will join 1,700 guests at Battersea Evolution this evening, where the recipients of three special Judges’ Awards will be honoured alongside 19 winners from across the commercial sport industry.

This year, for the first time, the famous #BTSIA “red carpet” sequence, featuring more than 75 star guests from the worlds of sport and entertainment, will be streamed worldwide as part of a fully-produced Twitter Live in partnership with LiveWire Sport.

Presenter Anne-Marie Batson will be standing by from 6.30pm to bring you an hour full of glamour and excitement from the world’s largest and most prestigious commercial sport awards.
