Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil has agreed a deal with Wasserman Media Group, joining his club mate Jack Wilshere on the books of the agency’s Global Football Division.
In a statement announcing the news, Wasserman did not reveal precisely the role it will play in Özil’s commercial affairs but will be one of a number of parties looking after his off-field work.
As well as his own company, Özil Marketing, the 25-year-old employs media consultant Roland Eitel and Haimspel, an agency which looks after his Facebook page.
Özil, currently on World Cup duty with Germany, joined Arsenal last year and helped them lift last season’s FA Cup.
Fahri Ecvet, the chief operating officer of Wasserman’s Global Football Division, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Mesut to Wasserman. He is one the most talented and exciting players in world football and we firmly believe that he has the potential to go on to become the very best. The future is incredibly bright for Mesut and we are very much looking forward to working with him.’
Özil added: ‘I’m really excited about working with Wasserman. They have a proven track record working with some of the world’s top players and I’m looking forward to the future with them.’
