Wrexham AFC has announced a new partnership with PepsiCo-owned drinks brand Gatorade, after securing promotion to League One.

Under the agreement, Gatorade will become the Welsh football club’s official sports drink and will provide hydration products for Wrexham’s men’s and women’s teams.

Gatorade will get brand exposure on the sidelines during all home matches at the Welsh club’s 12,600-seat Racecourse Ground home.

The company’s products will also be integrated into the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series, with its third season set to launch on 2nd May.

In addition to brand promotion, Wrexham will collaborate with the Gatorade Sport Science Institute (GSSI), which will analyse players’ sweat patterns and develop customised fuel plans, enabling them to hydrate themselves effectively. This comes as part of the club plan to bolster on-field performance, as it continues its push towards the Premier League.

Wrexham and Gatorade also plan to produce co-branded merchandise such as bottles and towels in the near future.

Michael Del Pozzom President and General Manager of Gatorade, said, “We at Gatorade are thrilled to welcome Wrexham AFC, who have captivated global soccer and pop culture fans alike, as our newest partner.

“From the natural integration into “Welcome to Wrexham”, to leveraging our products and GSSI’s capabilities to help fuel the teams, this partnership is a first of its kind for Gatorade, leveraging the powerful intersection of sports and entertainment to reach new audiences around the globe.”

In a joint statement, Wrexham co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds said, “We are incredibly pleased and humbled to welcome Gatorade as an official partner of Wrexham Association Football Club. We are officially pretty darn official.

“Our decision early on to have Aviation Gin in those water bottles was reckless and shortsighted. Luckily, our team has forgiven us and has gone on to perform admirably, in part thanks to Gatorade! We look forward to a few more Gatorade dunks in the years to come.”
