The WSL has confirmed extensions of its domestic rights agreements with BBC Sport and Sky Sports for the 2024/25 season.

Under the renewals, pay-TV provider Sky Sports will air up to 44 matches per campaign, while public service broadcaster BBC will show at least 22 fixtures throughout the season. Of these, 18 will be broadcast on linear channels BBC One and BBC Two, with all games available on the iPlayer streaming platform.

The WSL signed an expansive deal with the respective broadcasters in 2021, generating further exposure for the elite English women’s football league. Chelsea’s win over Liverpool earlier this season drew the largest ever audience for a WSL fixture, averaging 796,000 viewers on BBC Sport, with viewership peaking at 955,000.

From next season, the WSL will be governed by NewCo, a new independent body that will oversee the top two tiers of English women’s football.

Commenting on the extension, Sky Sports Managing Director Jonathan Licht said, “It’s a hugely exciting time for women’s football in this country. Extending our partnership with the Women’s Super League with more matches than any other broadcaster is fantastic news for Sky Sports customers.

“Audiences have increased hugely over recent years and we’re proud of our contribution to the growth of the game and women’s sport more broadly, showing 70% of all live action last year on our channels.”
