Global (re)insurer XL Catlin will once again help celebrate some of the finest governing bodies, leagues and competitions at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2018 after renewing its agreement as the Official Category Partner of the Governing Body of the Year Award.

XL Catlin is one of the largest specialty insurers in the world, with a significant presence in all of the world’s major insurance markets. A dedicated sport and leisure division operates from their offices in London.

At the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017, England Hockey was named Governing Body of the Year in association with XL Catlin. The trophy was presented on stage by Leicester City duo Wes Morgan and Riyad Mahrez.

Paul Thomas (below, right), senior class underwriter, sport & leisure at XL Catlin, commented: “Strong, responsible governance is crucial to a healthy sport industry, and effective risk management helps to ensure a stable and successful business operation from the grassroots to elite level. Being a part of the BT Sport Industry Awards, and specifically in association with the prestigious Governing Body of the Year Award, is a great way to help support that.”

Alex Coulson, executive director, Sport Industry Group, added: “XL Catlin provide solutions to some of the most complex situations in a range of different environments for their clients every day, so they are a perfect match for the competitive Governing Body of the Year category. We look forward to working with XL Catlin and the team once again this year.”
