Gerrard & Osman Take On Blind Football
Steven Gerrard and Leon Osman reignited their one-time club rivalry in the latest BT Sport Film, Gerrard and Osman’s Merseyside Derby, to highlight the inclusive work being delivered as part of the Premier League and BT Disability Initiative. The former Liverpool and Everton captains tried their hand at blind football alongside blind and visually impaired footballers from Liverpool and Everton FC’s community programmes, as well as players from Merseyside Blind FC.
Gerrard and Osman start the blind football session by learning the basics before taking part in small-sides games, highlighting the collaborative work of Everton in the Community and the LFC Foundation who facilitate a weekly disability session at the Anfield Sports Community Centre. The session, funded by the Premier League and BT disability initiative, is jointly run by a coach from each club’s community department, who through their delivery also support the training for Merseyside Blind FC. The film premieres on Saturday 5th May at 11:45am on BT Sport 1 and highlights how the programme has positively impacted those with visual impairments in the Merseyside area.
