In this special Sport Industry Group podcast presented by Miller Insurance, we spoke with senior members of the sport industry to discuss different aspects of athlete welfare and how the risks individuals face have changed in recent years.

Earlier in the year, Sport Industry Group ran a week-long campaign on social media. The campaign consisted of a series of polls as way of surveying the industry and gathering their thoughts on a variety of topics.

The results of those polls (detailed below) served as the basis of the discussion for the panelists.

On why Sport Industry Group partner Miller Insurance chose athlete welfare as the focus topic for its content series, David Griffiths, Senior Advisor, Sport and Entertainment, said “Over the last few years, the sport industry has seen a dramatic shift. With the evolution of social media, the digital age and many other factors, athletes are in the spotlight now more than ever. As a result, the risk profile that sports professionals face day-to-day is now drastically different to ever before and has an impact on their reputation, safety, and future earning capability.

At Miller, we understand the significance of protecting athletes and their welfare, and the importance of the wider industry’s support.”
