Premier League club Chelsea FC is reportedly set to announce a club record kit supply deal with Nike.
The latest news follows the announcement last week that the club was ending its deal with current kit supplier adidas six years early – at the end of next season – with the decision set to cost the club £40m in compensation.
According to media reports, the club has now agreed a new ten-year contract with Nike, worth £60m a year from 2017, double what it currently gets from adidas.
The deal would make it the second biggest in English club football after Manchester United’s ten year £750m deal with adidas, which started ahead of the 2015/16 season.
A double in revenue from kit sponsorship will give Chelsea an extra £30m a year and is twice what rivals Arsenal are paid by Puma, and more than three times what Manchester City earns from Nike, with City’s deal due to expire in 2019.
