UK Athletics (UKA) Chairman Richard Bowker will step down at the end of the month after just 18 months in the role.
It follows a vote of no confidence from the four home countries’ federations last week, which resulted from Bowker’s plans to streamline the sport’s governance structure.
Former Olympic marathon runner Sarah Rowell will step in as interim chair, having temporarily stepped down from her position on the London Marathon board.

Former TeamGB cyclist Jess Varnish has lost her employment case against British Cycling and UK Sport.
In a landmark decision, a tribunal ruled against her claim that British Cycling acted akin to an employer. It means she is unlikely to be able to pursue her legal claim against the two organisations for sexual discrimination and wrongful dismissal.
UK Sport has welcomed the outcome of a case that threatened significant consequences for the country’s sport performance system. The organisation added in a statement that it would “reflect on the concerns that were raised through this case.”

The MCC has been granted full planning permission for a £50m renovation of the Compton and Edrich stands at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Subject to approval by MCC members, work will begin to construct two new three-tier stands at the end of the 2019 season.
The proposals are part of a wider £200m development at the venue.

Planning permission for Luton Town’s new home at Power Court has finally been granted by Luton Borough Council.
As well as the 23,000-seat stadium, the development will have bars, restaurants, a hotel and housing.
The club first lodged plans for the new stadium in August 2016.

Eurosport has agreed a 13-market deal with content discovery platform Outbrain.
The multi-year agreement will see the broadcaster use Outbrain’s Smartfeed technology to enhance consumer engagement and revenue streams. Eurosport will also promote its own videos via Outbrain’s Amplify platform.
