Manchester City has announced a renewal of its partnership with Acronis, which will see the technology company continue as the club’s official cyber protection partner.

The new agreement means that the club also welcomes American information technology company Ingram Micro as the ‘#TeamUp’ partner in the relationship, an initiative by Acronis which allows managed service providers to deliver Acronis Cyber Protection Solutions to global sports teams on behalf of Acronis and enjoy the numerous benefits and brand exposure.

Ingram Micro will receive a range of sports marketing rights to develop campaigns promoting Acronis’ cyber protection services.

Manchester City currently uses the Singapore-based company’s Acronis Cyber Protect software, a Machine Intelligence (MI) enhanced solution that integrates data protection with cybersecurity, to reduce the impact of cyberattacks, and helps avoid downtime.

Throughout the partnership, which started in 2018, the Premier League champions and Acronis have worked together on a number of engaging content activations for fans.

Greg Swimer, Chief Information and Technology Officer at City Football Group, said, “Manchester City has an ever-increasing amount of data that helps drive our critical operations, both on the pitch and off it. This data needs protecting, and we have been delighted to work with Acronis to help us to do so since 2018. We look forward to collaborating with Acronis as the partnership continues to progress.”

Ronan McCurtin, VP of Europe, Acronis added, “Acronis has been a proud partner of Manchester City since 2018 – a relationship we continue to build and add benefits to for both our partners and customers. In this renewal, Acronis will help Manchester City significantly optimize its data management with support and protection from ransomware contributing to efficient business operations. In the fast-paced world of sports today, we are thrilled to welcome Ingram Micro to the partnership this year, and know each party will bring intensity to the partnership on and off the field.”

Ovidiu Gherghel, Director Cloud & Cyber Security, UK&I at Ingram Micro, commented, “At Ingram Micro we are eager to push boundaries and see technology enable the world to accomplish more. The rapid advancement of technology in sport is not only revolutionising the spectator experience, but also advancing the strategy and accuracy of the game, pushing athletes further than they have ever been. We are incredibly proud to have teamed up with Acronis to help support this partnership.”

The announcement follows a number of sponsorship agreements confirmed by Manchester City in recent weeks. This has included OKX as the team’s official training kit partner and a new regional partnership with Asian betting platform 8Xbet.
