OPPO has marked the start of its third-successive year of sponsoring The Championships, Wimbledon with the launch of a new series of tennis-themed pop-ups in London during the tournament.

OPPO will host an ‘immersive, slow motion studio experience’, at the All-England Club, offering Wimbledon attendees the chance to create their ‘own winning tennis moment’. Running across all 13 days of the tournament, the pop-up will see footage captured on the brand’s flagship Find X3 Pro, with full HD video edited in real time and sent to the participant as a souvenir from the tournament.

The brand will also host a big screen at The Scoop in central London, which overlooks Tower Bridge. OPPO says it will host ‘its own Henman Hill’, taking over the amphitheatre space in the centre of the city where 200 spectators per day can sign up for free to watch the tennis in a dedicated seating area. The brand will also lay on a ‘complimentary drink or two’ and will offer fans the chance to win tickets to attend Wimbledon in person during the second week of the Championships.

The public will also be called upon to use a series of photo booths at the activation, which will see OPPO raise money for sports charity StreetGames to fund urban tennis clubs in London for young people.

“From the fierce contest between Federer and Djokovic, through to strawberries and cream on court, we want to offer all tennis fans a piece of the action this summer,” said Kevin Cho, General Manager, OPPO UK.

“Wimbledon is one of the most prestigious sporting and cultural events in the UK and after a hiatus last year, we’re delighted to be supporting The Championships and have a few aces up our sleeves to bring this to life. From our innovative slow-motion studio to our outdoor viewing event, this is a great chance to showcase our ambitions and commitment to UK customers.

“What’s more, we feel strongly that all young people deserve an opportunity to fall in love with the sport; which is why we’ve chosen to donate to StreetGames and fund tennis lessons in urban areas. Now is a key time to look forward to what’s ahead and embrace the beautiful game of tennis.”

Mick Desmond, Commercial & Media Director, AELTC and The Championships, Wimbledon, added: “We are delighted to welcome back OPPO to the family of Official Partners of The Championships. Together, we hope to bring sport to as many fans as possible after what’s been a difficult year – and want to make this tournament extra special.

“We value this partnership with OPPO immensely; like Wimbledon, it is pushing the boundaries all the time and seeing what’s possible. We’re excited to see the great tennis on display and hope that this year will be one to remember.”
