The Sport Industry NextGen Leaders spent an evening with Carlo Ancelotti as part of their ongoing Leadership Package. At the Inspired Leaders Network event Ancelotti shared his thoughts and approach to his renowned style of quiet leadership.

Hosted by Rene Carayol, Ancelotti was joined on stage by Professor Chris Brady, one of the authors of Ancelotti’s new book, Quiet Leadership – Winning Hearts, Minds and Matches.

Ancelotti was clear in saying that talent alone is not enough to reach the top and a strong work ethic is required to succeed, with regards to players he said: “The most talented players are the most professional.”

The former Chelsea manager, now the new man in charge at Bayern Munich, took questions from the floor and when the question of longevity as a football manager came up he was not concerned, saying: “Being sacked has become part of our job description. In our chosen career, being sacked is inevitable. In order to get to the top, you must become less uncomfortable with getting sacked.”

Sport Industry NextGen in partnership with Barclays identifies tomorrow’s leaders, rewards their potential and nurtures their talent. The evening was another instalment of the Leadership Package that the 2016 Sport Industry NextGen Leaders are receiving throughout the year. Entries for the 2017 Sport Industry NextGen programme open later this summer but you can register your interest here now.
