Short-form tennis format, Tie Break Tens, has launched a new grassroots tennis initiative, TB10 Play, designed to increase participation in tennis by enabling clubs to host their own tournaments.

The new programme kicks off across the UK in time for the grass court season this summer.

Launched as a tennis format in 2015, Tie Break Tens is a quick-fire version of the sport, comprised solely of tie breaks – with no games or sets, so every point counts.

As part of the strategy, Tie Break Tens are encouraging clubs and players to upload their scores through the TB10 Play zone, which will host scores, photos and videos as well as exclusive tips and content from some of the TB10 ambassadors; including Kyle Edmund and Feliciano Lopez.

TB10 will also be awarding participants with prizes, including signed kit from previous TB10 players Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal.

TB10 ambassador and British number one, Kyle Edmund, commented: “I enjoyed playing the first Tie Break Tens Event in London and it is great to see how the format has taken off since then.

“The launch of TB10 Play is a good way to introduce players at a grassroots level to this quick-fire format and I am sure there will be a lot of players challenging each other to a head to head over the summer; and tennis clubs running tournaments of their own.”

The TB10 Play Tournament Toolkit can be downloaded from the TB10 website, with the personalised guide including TB10 rules, scorecards, tournament certificates and other information to help clubs and tennis groups host their own tournaments. In addition, a TB10 Winners Prize package will also sent out with any toolkit.

“I can’t wait to share my tips on how best to approach a TB10 match.” Feliciano Lopez, TB10 Madrid 2017 finalist, added. “Having made the final in Madrid, I have a good idea of the best tactics to succeed in this format! I hope lots of players and new fans will pick up a racket and try this format over the summer.”

Felicity Barnard, CEO of Tie Break Tens, concluded: “We are delighted to launch TB10 Play this summer – encouraged by the feedback from professional players who love the format and say it’s fun to play, easy to understand and incredibly fast paced.

“Our key aim is to drive participation in tennis through TB10 Play because anyone can play, whatever level of tennis they might be.”
