All-female motor racing championship W Series has appointed Craig Edmondson as Chief Commercial Officer.

Edmondson was most recently CEO, Esports at Zwift, and has also worked across commercial strategy and sales as well as digital transformation and global development as Marketing Director at the Premier League.

The appointment comes after W Series announced it will host eight races on the Formula 1 undercard in 2021.

“I’m delighted to be joining W Series at such an exciting time for the business, said Edmondson.

“The growth since launch just over two years ago has been remarkable. Our new partnership with Formula 1 is a ringing endorsement of W Series’ mission to further the interests and prospects of female racing drivers everywhere and is a fantastic opportunity to maximise our reach and impact.”

Catherine Bond Muir CEO, W Series, added: “We promised that W Series would be bigger and better in the future and Craig Edmondson’s appointment, fresh off the back of our announcing that our 2021 on-track racing calendar will include eight Formula 1 support races, is further proof of our determination to spread our message farther and wider.

“Craig has helped grow both early-stage businesses and sporting behemoths such as the Premier League, and that wealth of experience makes him a hugely valuable addition to W Series’ already dynamic and dedicated team.”
