Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) has confirmed that its Chief Executive Officer, Mark Arthur, has resigned with immediate effect.
Arthur resigns amidst the fallout from Yorkshire’s investigation which concluded that former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq was a victim of racial harassment and bullying, but the club confirmed that it would not take any disciplinary action against anyone involved.
Arthur is the latest senior figure to leave Yorkshire in the wake of a scandal that has engulfed cricket. It comes just a week after Yorkshire Chairman Roger Hutton resigned from his role.
In the interim, the Board has appointed Paul Hudson, Finance Director, as Acting CEO.
Following his resignation, Arthur made no comment on Rafiq or the investigation instead he said: “I’ve had eight fantastic years at the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, working alongside an outstanding group of people, and together achieving many highlights.
“I would like to thank the members for their support over this period and wish the club all the very best in the years to come”.
On Tuesday, Yorkshire suspended head coach Andrew Gale for an anti-Semitic tweet he wrote back in 2010 when he was club captain.
Yorkshire, who have been suspended from hosting international matches by the England and Wales Cricket Board, has seen a host of sponsors cut their ties with the club, including Nike, Emerald Publishing, Yorkshire Tea and Tetley’s.
