Sport Industry Group has unveiled the Official Shortlist for the BT Sport Industry Awards 2015, with the winners to be announced at the annual, star-studded ceremony in London on Thursday 30th April 2015.
The quality of work submitted for this year’s Awards was exceptionally high, with entries spanning 20 sports making this year’s shortlist. From football, Formula One, sailing, to cycling, the entries covered a range of major tournaments and events in the sporting calendar. The Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup, FIFA World Cup and the Invictus Games as well as the upcoming Rugby World Cup all featured prominently.
Agencies, governing bodies, teams and federations who all had a major part to play in shaping the British sport industry from the past 12 months submitted their work across 15 categories, with the new Cutting Edge Sport category proving particularly popular.
The shortlist for the new category that celebrates innovation and progressive thinking in sport features O2’s innovative use of the Oculus Rift technology, CelticLIVE bringing connectivity to Celtic Park, The Jockey Club’s revolutionary expansion of its existing services, a unique partnership between the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and UNICEF, SenseCore’s revolutionary human monitoring system and Sportradar leading the way in security services.
Nick Keller, Chairman, Sport Industry Group, said: “The level of work submitted this year has been higher than ever, signifying that securing a place on the shortlist is a huge achievement.
“Introducing the Cutting Edge Sport Award to 2015 has not only opened up the BT Sport Industry Awards to some very unique brands and projects, but it also demonstrates that fresh ideas and advancements in technology are providing endless opportunities for the sport industry.
“The category for Best International Marketing Campaign was also incredibly strong this year, creating a shortlist of new and exciting entries, and proving that the UK sits at the heart of the international sport industry.
“We look forward to announcing the results and celebrating with you all on 30th April.”
The Official Shortlist was selected through an extensive Steering Process involving 83 key industry figures and 36 hours of intensive judging, fully overseen by Deloitte, the Independent Scrutineers of the BT Sport Industry Awards. The Official Shortlist will now go forward for consideration by the main Judging Panel, who will decide the winners in each category.
